Theerthas inside the Rameshwaram Ramanathaswamy Temple

According to the words of scripture Sethu Puranam, there are totally 64 theerthas(sacred water bodies) in and around Rameswaram. Out of them twenty-two theerthas situated inside the Ramanathaswamy Temple premises.

Timings for taking  sacred bath from the 22 wells inside the Ramanathaswamy temple: 

The pilgrims were allowed to take bath from the 22 wells inside the Rameswaram temple from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

Pilgrims can get tickets for taking the bath from the temple ticket counter situated near the main entrance (East gate entrance ) of the temple.

It took 45 minutes 2 hours depends on the crowd to complete the bath from the 22 wells.

Ticket Cost:

The ticket charge is Rs 25/ person.

1.Mahalakshmi Theertham :

Location: South of the Hanuman Temple.

2. Savithri Theertham :

Location: West of the Hanuman Temple.

3. Gayathri Theertham :

Location: West of the Hanuman Temple.

4. Saraswathi Theertham :

Location: West of the Hanuman Temple.

5. Sakkara Theertham :

Location: In the second corridor of the Temple.

6. Sethu Madhava Theertham :

Location: This theertham is located as a Pond in the third corridor.

7. Nala Theertham :

Location: Near Sethumadhava Temple. (Between third and second corridor).

8. Neela Theertham :

Location: Near Sethumadhava Temple. (Between third and second corridor).

9. Gavaya Theertham :

Location: Near Sethumadhava Temple. (Between third and second corridor).

10. kavatcha Theertham :

Location: Near Sethumadhava Temple. (Between third and second corridor).

11. Gandhamadana Theertham :

General Guidelines for the Pilgrims who take Sacred bath from the  22 wells inside the Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy temple:

  1. On festival days and holidays, Rameswaram temple will be crowded, hence it may take a longer time to complete the theertha snanam/Sacred bath process because of the long queue.
  2. Temple guides available near the temple can assist you on the sacred bath , If you need special entry to theerthas (They may charge Rs 100 to 200 per person exclusive of the ticket charges).MyRameswaram website doesn’t advice you to take temple guides to assist on the theertha snana process unless you need them.
  3. Devotees were not allowed to worship the temple deities with the wet clothes, so devotees are required to carry new clothes to wear after the bath. Dress changing rooms are available inside the temple itself , devotees can change clothes there.
