According to the words of scripture Sethu Puranam, there are totally 64 theerthas (sacred water bodies) in and around Rameswaram. Out of them, twenty-two theerthas are situated inside the Ramanathaswamy Temple premises.

Timings for Taking Sacred Bath from the 22 Wells inside the Ramanathaswamy Temple
The pilgrims are allowed to take bath from the 22 wells inside the Rameswaram temple from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Pilgrims can get tickets for taking the bath from the temple ticket counter situated near the main entrance (East gate entrance) of the temple.
It takes 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on the crowd to complete the bath from the 22 wells.

General Guidelines for Pilgrims Taking Sacred Bath from the 22 Wells inside the Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy Temple
- On festival days and holidays, Rameswaram temple will be crowded. It may take longer to complete the theertha snanam (sacred bath) process because of long queues.
- Temple guides available near the temple can assist you with the sacred bath. If you need special entry to theerthas (they may charge Rs 100 to 200 per person, exclusive of ticket charges). Our website does not advise hiring temple guides unless necessary.
- Devotees are not allowed to worship the temple deities in wet clothes. Carry a fresh set of clothes to wear after the bath. Dress changing rooms are available inside the temple.
