Mythical Story of Jada Theertham or Jatayu Theertham
It is said that Lord Rama and Lakshmana washed their hair (Jada) in this pond, after killing the demon king Ravana and before worshiping Shivalinga in Rameshwaram.
According to another legend, this is the very spot where the mighty bird Jatayu, after bravely battling Ravana to rescue Sita, fell to the ground after his wings were severed.
